Help find a cure for ALS and come watch the Super Bowl with Stephen Finger and his friends at The Patio Tampa (421 South MacDill Avenue). The party starts at 6:00pm on Sunday, February 1. There will be an open bar, with the party extending through the final whistle.
Tampa holds a special place in Stephen’s heart as he spent three years there working for Raymond James, making amazing friends, and even meeting his wife, Cara. The Bucs may not have quite made it this year, but the event promises to live up to all of the epic nights at the Chatterbox, Mutiny games, tractor pulls, and of course, Figure 8 bus races.
 
There will be an open bar, food, and a silent auction all for a great cause. Stephen was diagnosed with ALS in 2013 (www.stephenfinger.wordpress.com). ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that robs people of their ability to write, walk, talk, eat, and eventually breathe. It currently has no treatments or cure and patients typically live 3-5 years after their diagnosis. Stephen and his friends and family are committed to changing this.
All proceeds will benefit ALS Therapy Development Institute, the largest non-profit biotechnology organization dedicated to developing effective treatments for ALS. Their mission is to leverage more than a decade of treatment-focused ALS research and apply it on an industrial scale to get therapeutics to today's ALS patients as quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively as possible.
Stephen is currently participating in their Precision Medicine Program, which uses patient’s skin samples to create stem cell lines that can be used to screen tens of thousands of potential drugs. This is a program that was accelerated by a surge of funding in the summer of 2014. They originally planned to enroll 25 patients, but now are aiming for 300 by the end of 2015. Every dollar they raise changes what they can accomplish. Stephen and his family know that time is of the essence and more resources mean a faster cure.
