This year's event is June 7, 2015 at Hidden Valley Golf Club in Whitesboro. The Jerry Walsh Memorial Cake Eater Classic is a 501(c)(3) entity and all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

This event is dedicated to the memory of Jerry Walsh, Jr. Jerry was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and businessman who lived in Ilion, NY. He was stricken with ALS and after 15 months died on August 13, 2008. It is our wish that no other family suffer as ours has due to this illness. ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. It is a fatal disease that attacks the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement and muscle power. A person with ALS loses his/her ability to walk, speak, swallow, and eventually breathe. Yet in most patients their mind remains unaffected. It is said that they are trapped in a body that no longer works.

This year's Charity Classic is going "south of the border" and bringing the historic and famous town of Puerto Nuevo, Mexico to the Capital Club!

Enjoy authentic cuisine, including Puerto Nuevo's signature dish, lobster! Come listen to the traditional sounds of our lively Trio and gaze at the beauty of Folklorico dancing. The kids will love our interactive crafts station where they'll learn to make the traditional Mexican craft "flores de papel" and, can decorate pictures frames for your complimentary souvenir photo!

ABOUT CHARITY CLASSIC...

The Charity Classic, ClubCorp’s major annual philanthropic open-house event was founded in 2007 and has since raised over $12 million for a vartiety of deserving non-profits. This annual event is celebrated at over 125 golf and country clubs and business and sports clubs around the country through ClubCorp. 

2015 Charity Classic will benefit the following deserving nonprofits:

 Augie’s Quest is an aggressive fundraising effort focused on finding treatments and cures for ALS by supporting the work of the ALS Therapy Development Institute. 

 Employee Partners Care Foundation (E.P.C.F.), a fund created to help ClubCorp’s employees and their families by providing financial assistance in times of crisis.

 Breakthrough Silicon Valley (local non-profit of choice) prepares academically motivated middle school students with limited educational opportunities for success in rigorous college-preparatory high school programs and four-year colleges, and prepares outstanding high school and college students to enter careers in education.
