Andrea Lytle Peet & David Peet

Andrea Lytle Peet was diagnosed with ALS at the age of 33 in August 2014, less than one year after completing 5 triathlons in one season, including a 70.3-mile half Ironman. After diagnosis, Andrea completed her 10th triathlon and will continue to trike alongside her husband, David, for as long as possible. Andrea graduated from Davidson College and earned her master's in city planning from Georgia Tech. Andrea was a senior program manager for a sustainability nonprofit in Washington, DC until February 2015 when she could no longer keep up with the workload. Andrea plans to spend time now supporting her wonderful husband, focusing on her health, and raising awareness and funding for ALS research.

In February 2015, Andrea dodged two snow storms and the Patriots' Super Bowl parade in order to enroll in the ALS Therapy Development Institute's Precision Medicine Program. Her blood sample and skin biopsy will be used to look for ALS biomarkers and create an induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSc) line to test for mechanisms of the disease and potential treatments. Every month, she participates in various exercises and tests to provide information to the researchers tracking the progress of her disease.

Andrea writes about her journey living with ALS on her blog, Team Drea.

David Peet, Andrea’s supportive husband, is an attorney in the DC office of the Boston-based firm, Ropes & Gray. He is part of the government enforcement practice group where he primarily works with multinational pharmaceutical and medical device corporations to ensure their compliance with US law. He is a fluent Spanish speaker and conversational in Portuguese.
