Jay Smith is the Founder of Livid Instruments, a successful Austin-based music technology company. He lives in Austin with his wife, Missy, and daughters, Loghan and Peyton. Jay was diagnosed with ALS in May 2014 and shortly after created the Every 90 Minutes Foundation to support the most promising research to find a cure for ALS. The foundation was named such to recognize the fact that every 90 minutes someone in the United States is diagnosed with ALS.
Jay, his family and their foundation have established a major following on social media and have been featured in various news outlets.
The foundation and its advisory board members have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for multiple different research programs, including those at the ALS Therapy Development Institute. Fellow ALS.net Ambassadors Sarah Coglianese, Matt Bellina, and Beth Hebron’s father, Bob Hebron, are also advisory board members of the Every 90 Minutes Foundation.
