Augie Nieto is one of the most influential innovators and leaders of the global fitness industry in the last 50 years. He helped to shape today's fitness world as CEO of Life Fitness, one of the world's leading creators and providers of workout equipment, and he has helped to start and lead countless other companies dedicated to helping individuals improve their physical health. Following his ALS diagnosis in 2005, Augie and his family created the key ALS.net Global Affiliate: Augie's Quest.
Augie's Quest is one of the most recognizable patient-led campaigns to end ALS in the world and has raised nearly $50 million to date, providing crucial funding for some of the most risk-oriented research efforts ever undertaken in the battle to end ALS. Both Augie and his wife Lynne are members of the board of the ALS Therapy Development Institute, of which Augie has served as chairman since he was elected in 2007.
Through its partners in the fitness and business communities, Augie's Quest organizes several marquee events and programs each year. These include the Tradition of Hope in Beverly Hills, the Mile High Bash in Denver, the Calling All Angels Golf Classic in Seattle, the Big Canyon Golf Tournament in Newport Beach and the BASH! gala event on the final day of the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association convention. Additionally, Augie's Quest and the world's leading private club company, ClubCorp, created together the ClubCorp Charity Classic which raises nearly $3 million annually for dozens of local charities as well as ALS research.
