Tom Shea retired from the New York City School System in 2004. Several months after retirement, Tom was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Tom earned his PhD. in English Literature from Columbia University, the same university where Lou Gehrig received a scholarship for football. To m passed away on October 16th 2009. This year's tournament is dedicated to him and many others who have died this past year from ALS.
The Tee Shea ALS Invitational was inaugurated in October of 2006. The tournament was host to over 110 golfers and an additional 70 dinner guests.
The Tee Shea Invitational is operated by Volunteers who, together with JoEllen Shea, have dedicated numerous hours toward raising funds. Please join us for our Fifth Annual Event. You don't have to be a golfer to be part of our mission.
ALS is a devastating disease. The ALS Research Foundation San Diego was founded on the need to raise funds to find a CURE. Please, help us in our drive to raise awareness and funding for cutting edge research. All proceeds will be directed to ALS TDI, Cambridge, Ma. TDI is the world's largest ALS Research Facility.
