Like many of you, I have a personal connection to ALS and I understand the urgent need to slow and stop this horrible disease. That is why the PHAALS Foundation board of directors and I have taken a big step to support the vital work at the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI). They need us now, and I hope you will join us in supporting them at this critical time.

In 2012, after two great friends were diagnosed with ALS, I started the PHAALS Foundation (Playing Hardball Against ALS) and made it my mission to help fight for a cure and support families as they battle ALS.

Our Board of Directors, volunteers and families have spent eight years supporting ALS TDI through our Hall of Fame Research Grant. This grant provides much-needed funding for the vital research being done at ALS TDI. ALS TDI urgently invests all of the funds they receive, because they know that for people with ALS, there is no time to waste. For this reason, the PHAALS Foundation is announcing that we will be providing ALS TDI with their second $50,000 match for donations that are made to ALS TDI by April 30, 2020.

We cannot afford to let the COVID-19 epidemic slow the pace of research at ALS TDI, and we are here to do our part.  Last week, an anonymous donor matched $50,000 of donations that were made to ALS TDI. This resulted in the organization raising a total of $100,000 –but that is still just half of their April goal of $200,000. We still have $100,000 that needs to be raised. If you are able to donate and have not yet done so, please consider donating today to help meet the PHAALS Foundation’s $50,000 match and keep research moving forward.

If you are able, please donate by Thursday, April 30 to meet our $50,000 Match Challenge.  We work throughout the year to support not only ALS patients and families in their time of need but to help find a treatment and cure through ALS TDI. Please join us at the PHAALS Foundation in supporting our fellow fighters at ALS TDI.

This is our lab and, with your help, they will be able to move forward with our potential treatments.

God Bless,

Jeff R. Swick, Founder/CEO - PHAALS Foundation
