During the summer of 2007, Corey Reich was diagnosed with ALS. Corey was just entering his senior year at Middlebury College when he received this devastating diagnosis. That summer before returning to Middlebury for his senior year, a last-minute Las Vegas trip was taken with his best friend Ryan, and an unsober hotel room pact was made. The pact was that Ryan would always be there for Corey and he would do anything possible to help find a cure.

12 years later, that pact has not been forgotten. When Ryan and his family opened Foggy Hills Coffee Company, Ryan decided to combine his passion for roasting with his passion for supporting ALS research. So in late 2018, they created the Roasting for Research program to help fund research at the ALS Therapy Development Institute(ALS TDI). The first roast was, of course, named Corey’s ALS Blend.

Since then, they have raised thousands of dollars for ALS research and have created four other blends. All four honor people living with ALS: Kevin's ALS Roast, Angelina's ALS Antidote, Andrea's ALS Roast, and Osiel's Blend, which they are currently selling.
