Tongue fasciculations...seen or felt?

Hi,
I would like to ask you and very appreciate your answer. Nearly 4 years ago, I have been diagnosed with benign fasciculations. I have had them everywhere but never constantly, just 10 seconds in arm...then nothing for hour...then 5 seconds in leg etc. Got 2 EMGs done after 2 years, entirely clean.
4 months ago I noticed twitching of the tongue for the first time. It lasted few seconds but since then I have experienced it several times. Its clearly visible and felt the same way as e.g. eye tic...just clearly feel of twitching.
Some PALS I know told me they never noticed it but they could see it in mirror. Doctor told me it is unusual but can happen.
I have no talking problems or swallowing issues.

Well my tongue does the fasciculations all the time now. Anyone else?

RL Schaffer: you feel them all the time? My neuro told me that they can be benign as well as any other but its quite unusual. I have them only like 2 times per day. DId you notice them before any speech problems? I am only 25.

I had them before speech problems..mine are constant..there are many diseases that mimic ALS . I wouldn't think you have it.. ALS does not come and go..once it presents itself, it's relentless in its symptoms..You don't have it...Ron

Jeff, thank you for your answer, made me worried much, though.. Everyone I talked to so far told me they had speech/swallowing troubles way before and the tongue twitching did not feel at all.
May I ask you one more thing - how long before any other problems you got theme here? It was preseting symptom of your ALS, or did it start after limb involvement? And also, you feel them just all the time....vibrating or really twitching like in the arm etc.

Had..my symptoms started with slurred speech..tongue fasics later..after one year a few twitches and fasics in limbs..I had no limb involvement for 3-4 years.. In 4-5 year I had weak legs, and arms.about 50 percent loss of strength. Balance went next..I have no atrophy,. I'm eight years with ALS..walk with walker. Can't talk..I eat ok..YOU DONT HAVE IT..keep saying that..Ron

Ron, thanks. It seems you have very slow progression altough I guess its bulbar..I am happy for that. I am no doc but is your ALS dg definite? I know a man whose ALS turned out to be Kennedys disease (no UMN involvement) and very slow, very slow progression.

Yes I was diagnosed by Mayo Clinic.. It's bulbar, UMND ALS . ****s getting old too..

Ron: Interesting and great it is so slow in your case. The man I was talking about was also diagnosed by great medical center but after 10 years they changed his dg to Kenney disease.

I've had the tests for Kennedy ..I don't have it..I have friends slower .. You know, I don't feel my tongue..I see it..I can feel it when I stick it out and look ..otherwise , no..Ron
