For this episode of the EndPoints Podcast Erin Stevens, one of our Development Directors, spoke with Roy Taylor and his son Terence about their experience with ALS and their founding of Watch Your Back MND (Motor Neuron Disease). He was diagnosed with ALS on April 12th, 2018 and has been battling ever since. Following his diagnosis Roy wanted to take action to help the ALS community. “You’ve got two choices,” he said, “You can either roll up in a ball or roll up your sleeves, and I decided to roll up my sleeves.” Together the Taylors founded Watch Your Back MND as a way to raise money for ALS research. As part of the association, Roy along with the MND Assassins band, in which Terence plays the guitar, released a song titled Watch Your Back MND to spread awareness of the disease and to raise funds. All donations are donated to Research Motor Neurone, an ALS focused research lab based in Trinity College Dublin. The advice Roy would like to give to everyone affected by ALS would be “to look for positivity every single day. It can be as simple as having a shower, having a laugh, whatever sparks your day. All those things hurt ALS.” To learn more about the Taylor’s story and to watch the Watch Your Back MND music video, you can visit http://watchyourbackmnd.com/
