Many of you may know me as one of the guys who started the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Through that challenge, we came together as one to help spread awareness and speed up ALS research. Thank you for stepping up and joining me then, but that was over 5 years ago. We are still in search of treatments or a cure to keep the ones we love battling this ruthless disease alive. Hell, to keep me alive!

That soggy summer was just one year after I was diagnosed with ALS. When I first heard those three dreaded letters, it was just a month after my 30th birthday. Today, I am seven years in, and I am asking for your help, once again, to support ALS research. It's a crazy time in our world, but we must remain diligent in this fight against ALS working together to support the research of some of the most dedicated people I've ever met solely focused on taking this disease down. And, this time, you won’t even have to get wet. :)

I believe in the work of the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI).  And, I know that their fundraising is being seriously impacted by the COVID-19 epidemic. When the Coronavirus has a vaccine in the next year or so because of the immediate and robust response by our country, it can't be at the expense of research looking to save our loved ones fighting. Let's rally together to push ALS research through this difficult time. ALS TDI is a family and nothing is more important than family. We fight together! I need your help so that they can continue their work to maintain the pace of ALS research.

Today is #GivingTuesdayNow. It is a day for the entire country to come together and support non-profits that have been so seriously impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Those of us living with ALS still need and deserve effective treatments for this disease. I truly believe that the team at ALS TDI is getting closer to finding these treatments, but I fear that the impact of the pandemic could slow the progress of these treatments not just for me, but possibly generations of people with ALS. Please join me in supporting ALS TDI for #GivingTuesdayNow

How To Get Involved TODAY, for #GivingTuesdayNow

Let’s keep research moving forward for everyone living with ALS. Fire it up!

Sincerely,

Pat Quinn, Co-founder of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
