In September 2017, VICE editor and person living with ALS Angelina Fanous interviewed YFALS ambassadors Beth Hebron and Matt Bellina and ALS TDI scientists Dr. Fernando Vieira and Dr. Steve Perrin. Her video highlights the challenges of living with ALS, the struggle to access experimental treatments, and the work happening at the ALS TDI lab.
Angelina also wrote an impassioned article for VICE about the criticism of the Ice Bucket Challenge. She acknowledges that the Ice Bucket Challenge isn’t perfect but revealed in the ways the challenge grew the ALS community. As she concluded, “Keep dumping buckets of iced water over your head and I'll keep "liking" it.
