Every year, the ALS Therapy Development Institute participates in Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media. Last year, because of your incredible support, we raised $95,000 for ALS research. This year, Facebook and Paypal are matching up to $7 million dollars in donations, up to $250,000 match per non-profit, made through Facebook on that day, starting at 8 a.m. EST. Read more about how you can participate in Giving Tuesday here.

2018 TCS New York City Marathon

This past weekend, Meg Gardiner, Hindy Ginsberg, Doug Reich, Ellen Gomprecht Reich, and David McNeice ran a total of 131 miles for ALS TDI in the TCS New York City Marathon! They didn't just achieve something big when they crossed the finish line; together they raised almost $90,000 for ALS research, a remarkable feat, given that the original goal was $25,000! Now that they have brought us this far, let's see if we can reach a grand total of $100,000, and show ALS who's boss! Are you in? Let's do this! Please donate here.

Exciting Changes in the Labs

  • Recently, Fernando G. Vieira, M.D. assumed the role and responsibilities of Chief Scientific Officer at the ALS Therapy Development Institute. An ALS TDI scientist since 2001, Fernando previously served as our Senior Director of Preclinical Research, where he headed efforts to discover lead molecules for clinical development for the treatment of ALS.
  • Kaly Mueller joined the ALS TDI In Vivo team recently. Her focus is to provide detailed and accurate phenotypes for novel mouse models, with the hope that they can be incorporated into future pre-clinical drug studies. She draws inspiration from "the strength of people with ALS and their families, and the passion her coworkers display on a daily basis."
  • Nicole Chen is a new addition to the Translational Research team. She is a recent graduate of Northeastern University, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Math and Business. She comes with research experience at Neon Therapeutics where she did a co-op in the Vaccine R&D and Molecular Immunology groups.
