This year, users of Untappd – a social network for lovers of craft beer – will be able to share their support of the ALS Therapy Development Institute’s (ALS TDI) critical research to find effective treatments for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Untappd allows users to log and review the various craft beers that they’ve tried while earning badges for their profiles based for trying new beers and expanding their palates. Normally they’re awarded for things like trying beers from different countries, enjoying new styles, and frequenting different kinds of bars or restaurants. However, a new badge will reward people who help support ALS TDI through beer.

The new Ales for ALS™ (2021) badge will honor people who have logged a beer from a brewery participating in the Ales for ALS™ program. Ales for ALS™ is a national program in which participating brewers receive a unique, exclusive hop blend, created and donated annually by Loftus Ranches and YCH Hops. Ales for ALS™ brewers donate $1 to ALS TDI for each pint of the resulting Ales for ALS™ brew sold, allowing breweries and beer lovers to enjoy unique, high-quality beers while contributing to the fight to end ALS.

Anyone who logs a beer in Untappd from one of the participating Ales for ALS™ from January 8, 2021 to February 8, 2021 will receive the badge – helping to spread the word about this important fundraising program. This is the second badge promotion that Untappd has rolled out to support the Ales for ALS™, after offering a special Holiday Giving badge for people who supported the program over the 2020 holiday season.
